Welcome to the ask Mark Pirro page. We should change this to the SAG financial core page, since it seems that lately 80% of all questions are relating to union issues. Feel free to leave any question or comment you like, even if it's NOT about going SAG financial core ---------- Mark Pirro himself will respond. ---------- Or, if you'd rather not leave a message right now, just click here to go back to our Home Page. I AM A STUDENT FILMMAKER AND I PLANING ON SHOOTING A FEATURE FILM BEFORE I GRAUATE WHAT IS THE BEST GENRE TO START WITH?
----------------------------------------
MP: Start with refining your grammar, punctuation and spelling. Once you've gotten that mastered, it doesn't matter what genre you start with. Make the movie you're passionate about making. You like comedies, make a comedy. You like horror, make a horror film. You like action, make an action flick. What you shouldn't make is a film that you have no interest in just because you think that's what you're supposed to do.

was wondering what i include in my letter to sag in order to go fi-core and do i turn in my card with the letter?
--------------------------------------
MP: You don't have to include anything with the letter. You can send in your card if you like, but why make it easier on them? Let them ask you for it.

oops sorry I did not realize that you had already done a theatrical version. Is there a way to get a script and rights to do it?
-----------------------------------
MP: Anything's possible. Why not contact me at pirromount@hotmail.com and we'll see what can be done for you.

I love Nudist Colony of the Dead, I recently found it and fell in love with it. I am a recent graduate with a theatre degree and was wondering if you would mind if I gave a crack at writing a theatrical version? I totally understand if you say no. Thanks for your time :)
------------------------------------
MP: We did a theatrical version in 1995.

I read on someone's blog that if I order a movie from you, and put Add DRGS on the order, you will send a copy of Deathrow Gameshow. Is this still available?
----------------------------------------
MP: Yes, legally we're not authorized to sell it, but we can give it away if you order any of our other titles through our website.

How wide spread will the god complex be? Will I be able to see it in theatres? Online?
---------------------------------------
MP: One never really knows how wide a film will go once it's completed. Anything is possible. I just make the movies and then throw them out there. Where they wind up depends on Jesus, Allah, Buddha, Muhammad and the Tooth Fairy (all personal friends of mine).

I know this is a broad question, but how would you recommend getting my film out there and actually turning a profit. Also, Mike from Pleasanton and I plan to make a trip to southern California after the film is completed. Would you be interested in meeting up for lunch? We'd love to chat with you. I can remember watching Death Row Game Show at Mike's way back in the late eighties- he's a loyal fan, and so am I.
---------------------------------------
MP: An independently made film has about a 3% chance of making a profit. It shouldn't be about the single film, or even about profits, it's about the passion and the body of work. One film leads to another, and another. If you make more than one movie, it'll show that you're not just a flash in the pan. Eventually, you will find your way into the industry or you'll give up and become a Realtor, where the real money is. I've been making films for over 30 years, some make money, some don't. But it's never been about the money for me. If you really enjoy what you do, money is secondary to the joy of creating. This is why so many artists are willing to work for free. Contact me when you're in town and schedule permitting, I'd be happy to join you for lunch.

I'm currently in post-production on my first feature- a movie made after your own heart! When it's finished, would you mind taking a look at it and suggesting any distributors you think might be interested?
---------------------------------------
MARK PIRRO'S RESPONSE: I'd be happy to take a look at your film. However, recommending distributors isn't something I could do. They're all crooks.

Will "The God Complex" have captioning or English subtitles?
---------------------------------------
MARK PIRRO'S RESPONSE: I would imagine so. It depends who puts it out on DVD and what they feel it needs.
